Answering Your Questions
Full House Press wants to help educate its customers.
What is "bleed"?
The term bleed is used for all images/elements that overlap the border of your document.
If any component of your document makes contact with the document border, you will have to use bleed. The idea is to position the graphic element over the border or edge of the document. This is where the document will be cropped, or cut down to size, after printing.

LEFT: bleed & crop marks (before) RIGHT: document cut down to final size (after)
Example: You are designing a flyer with images against the sides of your document. When you send that document to your printer, you should include an 1/8" or .125 inch bleed around all four sides of the document. The document size will be a bit larger than the actual final size. Once printed, the document will be cut down to the correct size. Bleed gives the printer that small amount of space to move around paper and design inconsistencies.
